Once upon a time, the area serviced by the Commerce office was considered “up north” for many Metro-Detroiters. Back then, most of the roads leading out to the “Lakes Area” were single lane gravel roads. A visit to Union Lake was often a weekend getaway, and the surrounding lakes were populated by cottage-style homes and camp-sites. Who knew that the lakefront property once sold by landowners for as little as $1,000 per lot, would someday become a precious commodity, with values soaring to today’s levels.
Over time, our area has become a very attractive alternative for those looking to expand their horizons, and experience the daily enjoyment of nature’s finest scenery. The “Lakes Area” has experienced unprecedented growth over the last two decades, and is now primarily populated with year-round residents. Excellent school systems, shopping, restaurants and recreation make this a wonderful place to call home.
